Fostering Independence and Empowering You to Move Toward Restoration and Healing

It Takes Courage

Beginning your healing journey takes courage.  The work we do together at Moving Mountains is designed with your strengths, needs, and goals in mind. My approach to therapy is grounded on the values of safety, trust, collaboration, and empowerment.

Together we will create meaningful therapeutic goals that will foster independence and empower you to move toward restoration and healing.  Whether you are struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, relationships, family issues or big changes in your life, together we will explore your life’s themes and patterns and create new ways to face challenges.

Meet Heidi Bruder

Hi, I’m Heidi. Thanks for stopping by! If you are here, you are likely seeking out a therapist that would be the right fit for you. If you are looking for someone who is authentic, empathetic, and often funny, then I just might be the one. My approach to therapy is rooted in creating a safe environment and building trust with my clients. With this foundation true healing through psychotherapy can occur. I am humbled to have the honor and privilege to come alongside my clients and support them in their healing journey.

I am licensed to practice psychotherapy independently in both Arizona and Minnesota. My practice specializes in treating adolescents, young adults, and adults who are suffering from anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief. I am a trauma informed therapist and trained in EMDR- more info below. I find this therapy approach to be most effective when individuals feel “stuck” and uncertain why they are experiencing symptoms of anxiety and depression. For those who are interested, I serve from a faith-based perspective, while meeting each client right where they are at with their individual differences, cultural backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences.

My hope is that you will give therapy a try. I am confident that you will feel seen and heard as my client. Please feel free to reach out for a free 15-minute phone consultation and I will gladly answer any questions you may have about my approach to therapy and the therapeutic process.

I little about me…I have found the balance between the two places I love the most. With close family and friends in both Arizona and Minnesota it was impossible to choose one place to spend my time. With the advancement in teletherapy and the opportunity to go into private practice, Moving Mountains came to fruition. I love the outdoors and the vast difference between the desert and mountains of Arizona and the lakes and woods in Minnesota! In the summer, you will likely find Opal and me floating on a paddleboard in a Northern Minnesota lake getting lost in a novel. In the winter, you may find me cross country skiing in Minnesota or hiking on Arizona trails and hosting Family Olympics in Arizona. I am a mom of one phenomenal young woman, and I am passionate about raising strong, empowered, confident young adults! I believe my personal journey and experiences are what allows me to best connect with my clients.

I look forward to meeting you!

Heidi Bruder MSW, LICSW, LCSW

Teens

I am passionate about serving adolescents and empowering them to know who they are in a world that is desperately trying to define that for them. I have experience in guiding teens through traumatic life experiences and managing anxiety and depression. Adolescence can be a challenging time and can often feel hopeless. My role is to bring light to those moments that will create hope and anticipation for healthy adulthood.

Parents, if you are seeking out a therapist for your teen I understand the challenges that adolescence brings. I am skilled in building connections with teens and I am confident that your teen will feel comfortable meeting with me. I am authentic and often funny. This helps! I will build a strong connection of support for your teen, while also supporting you in navigating this time.

Adventure Therapy

I offer Adventure Therapy to those clients seeking a hands-on experience in their mental health journey. Adventure Therapy is the intentional use of adventure with clients, who will use the experiences as a change process.

I utilized my training in trauma treatment to design a program where I implement experiential activities to challenge and engage clients in learning techniques to use outside of the sessions.

Adventure Therapy can be used for individuals, families, and groups to help increase healthy communication, problem-solving, collaboration, highlighting strengths, building trust, and socialization skills. The activities are easily adaptable for many ages, abilities, and desired goals.

Adventure Therapy can help encourage a balanced understanding of risks and consequences, which gives a new approach to confronting challenges. The client will be encouraged to step outside their comfort zone during the sessions, prompting the client to build resilience and confidence.

Who is the ideal client for Adventure Therapy?

  • Teen Groups
  • Families
  • Corporate Groups
  • Any small group that wants to be challenged and have the opportunity to discover their unknown strengths!

EMDR

I offer EMDR as a psychotherapy technique with my clients. EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing is a therapy technique that allows the brain to process and heal from past traumas. We all have had experiences that impact how we show up in our lives.

These experiences often create rooted beliefs that can impact how we perceive ourselves in the world and in our relationships. These beliefs can often be barriers to enjoying a full life and healing from past trauma. Through EMDR root causes of negative core beliefs are identified and healing occurs. If you would like to learn more about EMDR, take a moment to view this video from the EMDR International Association.

OFFICE BUDDIES

Meet Opal Jane, the Wild Ween. She is periodically in the office and loves to snuggle, be pet, and twirl. Yep, I said twirl…Opal was born deaf, and she is currently in training to be our next office buddy. Much like my clients, she is also on her own journey of progress and understanding the world around her! She would love to meet you.

Daisy The Adventurer.  She is the O.G. office buddy setting the standard for all future office buddies.  Must be sweet, cuddly, ready for adventure, and of course a dachshund! Thanks for all the Love Daisy May!

Clients in the State of Arizona and Minnesota can access services through the telehealth model. Each session is conducted through a secure website that ensures client privacy.

What to Expect?

The first step to making a change is reaching out. I understand that setting up the first appointment can prompt anxiety and fear. That’s why I will take things at your pace, answer your questions fully, and involve you in the entire process. We will begin where you feel most comfortable in sharing your story.

Together we will explore your life’s themes and patterns and create new ways to face challenges. I believe in your ability to heal and restore your sense of safety and connection with others. In fact, research shows that the brain is malleable, resilient, adaptive, and developing throughout our lives. This innate ability of our brains is called neuroplasticity. You are not “stuck.” There is hope.
